Welcome to JoyNET page
My little home network is created by two computers - one Falcon040 and one IBM PC. They are
connected by serial line (for NFS) and by parallel line (for PARCP). Falcon is also connected
to world by SupraFAX 33k6 modem (dial-up internet and Fido/NeST node).
Falcon040 specs:
- original Atari Falcon030 motherboard (recased in PC Bigtower)
Falcon = MC68030 @ 16 MHz, DSP 56001 @ 32 MHz (combined power of 20 MIPS),
Truecolor, Stereo in/out, SCSI & IDE interfaces and other multimedia features.
- AfterBurner040 (provides CPU Motorola MC68040 and FastRAM slots)
- NOVA graphics card (1 MB DRAM) allows 1024x768 in 256 colors (fast!)
- Nemesis (allows error-free SCSI and CPU @ 40 MHz)
- harddisk IDE Fast-ATA2 Seagate Decathlon 1080 MB
- IDE CD-ROM four-speed (connected as a IDE slave)
- SCSI SyQuest EZ-Drive 135 MB (removable media)
- original ST-RAM 4 MB + new FastRAM 48 MB (total RAM 52 megs :-)
IBM PC specs:
- F.I.C. motherboard with MVP3 chipset (100 MHz bus freq)
- CPU IBM M2 (Cyrix 6x86MX) PR233 (2.5x75 MHz) (Always Intel Outside!)
- harddisk IDE Ultra-ATA3 Seagate Decathlon 2560 MB
- SDRAM 64 MB
- Viper V330 3D accelerated graphics on AGP port (yes, for Quake II :-)
- SCSI SyQuest EZ-Flyer 230 MB
Favourite operating systems:
- Falcon040: MiNTOS, Linux-m68k, TOS
- IBM PC: Linux-ix86, WindowsNT
Since October 1997 the PC is not at my home. I use it in office (programming in WindowsNT).
